About Jettison Never

Formed in 1998, Jettison Never had humble beginnings- one guitar and a homemade “drum kit”. The guys are humble as well- unassuming and affable. The music, however, is a bit less humble- the talent is impossible to overlook. From the opening chords to last note the natural ability and hard work that’s gone into the music is evident.

Jettison Never is comprised of brothers Josh and Matt Gilbert and cousin Ben Phillips. After shared family hardship the group became a tight knit team, nearly inseparable. With Ben on drums, Josh playing guitar and singing, and Matt playing bass as well as backing vocals, they practiced as a garage band for many years simply because they loved music.

Today the band performs at Chattanooga’s top venues including Club Fathom (TN’s largest all ages venue) and Rhythm ‘N’ Brews; as well as various other venues across the Southeast sharing the stage with the likes of Bowling For Soup, Nevertheless, Mute Math, and Pillar to name a few.

Jettison Never is a mixture of alternative/rock, a little taste of indie and a hint of ambient. If a label is helpful, they could be considered “melodic alternative/rock” in the vein of Switchfoot, The Strokes, or The Killers. They have a sound heavily influenced by rock bands like U2, Mute Math, Coldplay; and even many references to bands such as The Police. Jettison Never combines tight vocal harmonies, honest lyrics and personal chemistry, producing a sound you’ll swear you just heard on the radio or MTV, even if you can’t quite put your finger on who they sound like.
